Chasing Waterfalls

While there are dozens of named Waterfalls in the Pisgah National Forest, Blue Ridge parkway area these are a few my favorites. The falls that rated highest in my book were the ones where I was either alone or required a decent hike to reach them. Top of the list goes to Catawba Falls.

I was there early in the morning and the grandeur of the Falls with the solitude of being the only one there was just magnificent. Crabtree is just a massive wall of water and very loud;  Tom’s creek is about 100′ tall and impressive in its height.  You can scramble up and all over the rocks at Roaring fork. Linville is the most popular and largest of the Falls but also has the most people around; complete with a nice little visitors center.  For maps and area information check out Blue Ridge Travelers Guide.
